Traditional Austrian Wedding invitations

It has been a whirlwind of a summer and I have had so little time to myself, let alone, to update the blog. Just the nature of the game I guess, what with summer being wedding season and all. Did I really voluntarily get myself into this field? No, I’m kidding…I love my job…and the fact that I’ve been up until 10, 11, 12 at night almost every night for the past two weeks getting invitation orders out the door. Joy!
On the other hand, I have SO many awesome invitations to show you. Starting with these bright, colorful, Austrian invitations. Inspired by the traditional landscape of Austria and the couple’s wedding location (think village in the mountains, white houses, and red shutters everywhere!) We incorporated the Edelweiss flower (the national flower of Austria) into the design along with other floral elements typical of Austrian embroidery and the traditional clothing. So sweet and charming!
The outside of the invitation was a pair of hand-drawn shutters, which opened up to reveal the invitation inside.
The letters, shutters, leaves and more are all hand drawn/illustrated to give a playful, low-key vibe.
The envelopes were letterpressed as well.
We even created “thank you” cards that say “thanks tons!” in German along with coordinating envelope liners.
I loved working on this invitation suite, especially because it was all in German which was such a fun change from the usual and because it was a four color invitation which was insanely intricate and detailed to print! Hope you like it.
